West Lafayette Sept. 1, 1922 Public library met in call meeting in the high school building Meeting called to the order by the president with the following members present: E. B. Vawter, Grace Price, Carolyn Shoemaker, Ethel McQueen, J.B. Cunningham, W. E. Downs. Minutes of August meeting read and approved. The president stated the object of the meeting was to recommend a tax levy to the town board for library purposes. After some discussion Mrs. Price recommended a six cent levy, Mr. Cunningham recommended a four cent levy. Motion made by Miss Shoemaker that the board recommend a five cent levy. Motion second by Mrs. McQueen. Motion carried, and the following budget recommended to the town board: $1000.00 for books $1000.00 for librarian $500.00 for equipment which should be available in 1923 this amount requiring a tax levy of 5c on each $100.00 taxable property Meeting adjourned Everett B.
