| Town Hall – Nov. 6, 1923
The Public Library Board met in regular session at the Town Hall with all members present except Miss Shoemaker. The secretary's report was read and approved. The following bills were allowed and ordered paid:

Mr. Cunningham have the following financial report: Subscriptions received for the West LaFayette Public Library from Oct. 2, to Nov. 6, 1923, inclusive:
Total rec'd since last rep't – 82.56 Amount heretofore reported received – 2378.56 Total amount received to date – 2461.12 Amount heretofore turned over to Town Treasurer – 2400.00 Balance on deposit in bank – 61.12 J. B. Cunningham – Member of Finance Committee After some discussion it was decided that the policy of dealing with delinquents remain the same. Some of the delinquents had apparently not been seen yet. The Committee on Books was authorized to purchase $125.00 worth of Books, including the $25.00 given by the Mothers' Club for that purpose – after the Mothers' club had suggested a list of books desired. The Librarian, Mrs. Dickey, gave the following report of the Contingent Fund: Cash on hand at beginning of mo. - 2.15 Receipts during mo – 4.20 Expenses during mo. - 3.12 Balance on hand – 3.23 The matter of charging people living outside the corporation a [?] if they wished to use the public library was brought up for discussion. It was decided that for the present at least, no charge would be made. Motion was made and carried that the Building and Grounds Committee be authorized to purchase new filing cabinet and books supports. The secretary was asked to notify the school board that the terms of Mrs. Ethel McQueen and F. A. Burtsfield as members of the West LaFayette Public Library Board expire Nov. 21, 1923; and that he should notify Judges Homer W. [Heusegar], also, that the terms of E. B. Vawter expires Nov. 14, 1923. *It was moved, seconded, and carried that Mr. Vawter and Mr. Cunningham be sent by the Library Board to the Library Trustee's Conference at Indianapolis and that their expenses be paid. There being no further business the board adjourned E. B. Vawter – Pres. F. A. Burtsfield – Sec. * Mr. Cunningham presented an autographed copy of Shoes of Happiness & Other Poems by Edwin Markham to the Library. The Library Board greatly appreciated the gift secured by Mr. Cunningham. |
