Public Library – Dec. 2, 1924

The Public Library Board met in regular session with the following members present: J. B. Cunningham, Mrs. E. O. Price, Miss Carolyn Shoemaker, W. R. Smith, E. B. Vawter and F. A. Burtsfield.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Cunningham, and the secretary's report was read and approved.

The following bills were allowed and ordered paid:

City of West LaFayette – Coal


Howard Creviston – Janitor


C. W. Harlan – Repairing Books


Mrs. Eva Dickey – Nov. Salary


Mrs. Eva Dickey – Expenses to I. L. A.


The H. R. Hunting Co. - Books


Library Bureau – Supplies


The Macmillan Co. - Books


J. B. Cunningham – Expenses to I. L. A.


J. M. Strate & Son – Repair on Roof


Nelle W. Hollis – Harvard Classics


Total – 254.84

The Librarian's monthly report was received and ordered filed.

The report of the contingent fund was as follows:

Balance Nov. 4, 1924 – 4.83

Fines collected during mo. - 7.14

Expenditures during mo. - 8.16

Balance Dec. 2, 1924 – 3.81

Through the influence and good offices of our President, Mr. Cunningham, five hundred dollard was received from the Mrs. Ruth French estate and was deposited in the bank to the credit of the Building and Ground fund.

The Building and Grounds Committee reported that the roof which was in need of repairs had been fixed.

The Book Committee reported that a second hard set of Harvard Classics had been found which could be purchased for $45.00. The Board authorized the purchase of these books.

The Librarian, Mrs. Dickey, reported the need of more new Juvenile books. As a result the Board authorized the expenditure of 50.00 for this purpose.

Mr. Cunningham and Mrs. Dickey gave interesting oral reports of their attendance at the meeting of the Indiana Library Association and the Indiana Library Trustee's Association held in Indianapolis, Nov. 14, 1924.

The Librarian asked that she, with the cooperation of the Book Committee, be permitted to make the Xmas holiday season enjoyable for children who come to the Library. The Board authorized the expenditure ofa sum of money not to exceed ten dollars for decoration purposes, ect.

There being no further business to come before the Board, it adjourned.
