|Public Library – Feb. 3, 1925
The West LaFayette Public Library Board met in regular session with all members present except W. R. Smith and Miss Carolyn Shoemaker.
The secretary's report was read and approved.
The following bills were allowed and ordered paid:
Total – 137.29
The House Committee reported that it had investigated the cost of additional shelving needed, and found that they would cost 45.00 or 50.00. On account of other contingencies arising action on the committee's report was postponed.
The Librarian's report was received and ordered filed.
The report of the Contingent Fund was as follows:
Balance Jan. 5, 1925 – 5.16
Fines received during month – 5.68
Expenditures during month – 5.50
Balance Feb. 3, 1925 – 5.34
Motion was made and carried that we join the Am. Library Association. The secretarty was instructed to draw a warrant for the annual dues.
The House Committee was ordered to purchase an American Flag to be displayed ona pole from the front Library window. Mrs. McQueen very generously came forward and offered an American Flag as a gift to the Library. The gift was accepted.
The Librarian reported that the Kensington Club had made a gift of the American Girl Magazine to the Library Reading room.
The Librarian was asked to investigate the cost of Reader's Guide for the library. Mr. [Braiward] Hooker canvassed the board for Nelson's Loose Leaf Encyclopedia. The Board postponed action.
The amount of $75.00 was allotted for the purchase of new books for the Library during the month of February.
The President appointed the following committees to serve during the year 1925:
Committee on Finance: W. R. Smith, Ethel B. McQueen, Grace H. Price, Sec. Ec of.
Committee on Buildings & Grounds: E. B. Vawter, W. R. Smith, Ethel B. McQueen, Pres. Ex. of.
Committee on Books: Miss Carolyn Shoemaker, Grace H. Price, E. B. Vawter, sec. ex. of.
There being no further business to transact the Board adjourned.
