Thirty years have passed since a young woman, struggling to survive on her own in nineteenth-century Ireland, became the reliable hotel butler Albert Nobbs. But Albert’s loneliness has become almost too much to bear; when a housepainter and a new maid arrive at the hotel, Albert begins to wonder if it might not be possible for her to find happiness after all.
In Albert Nobbs Glenn Close reprises the role she first took on in the 1982 stage production during the Shaw Festival. Directed by Rodrigo Garcia and starring Mia Wasikowska, Janet McTeer, and Aaron Johnson, WALLA will present Albert Nobbs (R) on Monday, October 8 at 6:45 p.m. at the West Lafayette Public Library. (2011, 113 minutes)
