Local History Roundtable – Frank Lloyd Wright in West Lafayette
April 24 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Please join us for our first off-site Local History Roundtable event at Samara House in West Lafayette. Curator Nathan Allaire will treat our group to some light history connecting legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright to the family that constructed this local landmark. We will then spend the remaining time hanging out and talking history at Samara.
The John and Catherine Christian House, also known as Samara, completed in 1956 in West Lafayette represents one of Wright’s most fully realized Usonian designs. Samara offers a rare comprehensive example of the famous architect’s work, from landscape and exterior details to specific interior furnishings. Today, the National Historic Landmark is co-stewarded by Indiana Landmarks and the John E. Christian Family Memorial Trust, Inc.
Samara is only accessible via Woodland Ave. Parking is available on both sides of the street. Vehicles are restricted from driving on the brick paver driveway, please walk up the driveway to the carport located at the back of the house. There are three sets of shallow stairs on the property, one leading to the front door and two sets inside the home. If necessary, people with mobility concerns may request accommodation by calling (765) 409-5522. There are no restrooms available on site.
