WLPL WINS GRANT AWARD FOR COMMUNITY ART WORKSHOPS

West Lafayette Public Library is glad to announce the receipt of a generous grant from the Indiana Arts Commision and the The Arts Federation that will allow us to provide community programming centered around arts instruction and artistic recreation for all ages.

The Creativity Lab Art Workshops (CLAW) series will introduce participants to a new skill, artistic medium, or creative project in the library setting. Each session will be led by a guest artist from or with connections to the Greater Lafayette community. One Sunday session will be offered exclusively for adults and teens over 13 years old, while another session for families with children will offer a project more suited toward younger abilities.

These sessions are being held in the Library’s new Creativity Lab, a designated space for making and creating that has opened over the summer, and in the Children’s Activity Room. This program series will be offered free of charge to the public in an effort to welcome everyone into our remodeled library and to encourage further art exploration and appreciation within the Greater Lafayette community.

Library Director, Nick Schenkel, states, “On behalf of The West Lafayette Public Library I’m pleased the Library can continue its tradition of bringing people of all ages together to explore artistic endeavors. Encouraging creativity is a mainstay of public library service to our community.”

For an opportunity to share your thoughts on shaping this series, please participate in this survey.

The Library is currently seeking teaching artist partners to be part of this exciting new opportunity for our community. To learn more about this opportunity, please contact Ashley Fletcher at afletcher@wlaf.lib.in.us.
