November Children’s Department News

Weekly Programs:
Lap Sit for babies and 1 year old children
Mondays at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m.
This program is for babies, toddlers, and their parents or caregivers. Make new friends while listening to very easy stories and learning songs with Miss Gail. Free; no registration.
Location: Children’s Activity Room. There will be no lap sit on November 11.

Time for Twos –
Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
Miss Gail is leading a new story time for children who are 2 years old. It includes stories, songs, and a simple craft. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free; no registration.
Location: Children’s Activity Room.
Note – There will be no session on November 28, as the library will be closed for families and staff to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Music & Fun for children ages 2 and older
Wednesdays at 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Children ages 2 and older and their parents or caregivers are invited to sing and dance with Miss Gail. Free; no registration
Location: Walnut Room, 2nd floor of the library

Preschool Story & Crafts for children ages 3 and older
Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Story & craft times are for children ages 3 and older and their families or caregivers. Free; no registration. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Location: Children’s Activity Room
Note: No story and crafts on Friday, November 29. The library will not open until noon that day, because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving Holiday Hours
Wednesday, November 27: Open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday, November 28: Closed for Thanksgiving
Friday, November 29: Open from noon to 6 p.m.

November Events

Fall & Thanksgiving Crafts for Children and their Families
Saturday, November 9th: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walnut & Elm Rooms, 2nd floor

Our Thanksgiving and fall crafts day is for children ages 2 and older and their families or caregivers. (An adult must stay with children who are 8 and younger.) There will be a large selection of crafts to make to decorate your homes for Thanksgiving and fall. Free; no registration.

Purdue Science Student Council Science Demonstration for Children
Saturday, November 16: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Children’s Activity Room

Drop-in program – no registration or fee
Most families stay for about 20 minutes.
Children ages 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Lego Builders Club
Saturday, November 16th: 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Walnut & Elm Rooms

Children ages 2 through 12 are invited to build with the library’s collection of Lego blocks and Duplo blocks. Children who are 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Come and build and make new friends. Structures will be placed on display on the 1st floor of the library for 3 weeks following the event. No registration or fee.

Reading to the Dogs
Saturday, November 23rd: 2:00 to 3:00
Walnut & Elm Room

For children ages 4 and older. Presented by members of Caring Paws. Come and read to a certified therapy dog. Readers should bring a book from home or select one when they arrive at the library.
Please note: Children must be reading independently to attend this program. Younger children may visit the dogs to pet them when the program ends at 3 p.m.
Registration required by Friday, November 22nd at the children’s desk or by phone.
