Reading Buddies

New and learning readers in Kindergarten through 3rd grade can now sign up for a Reading Buddy!

Reading Buddies are high school reading mentors who volunteer their time to be a friendly ear to your budding bookworm. Each young reader will spend 15 minutes with their Buddy, reading a book of their choice. You can bring a book from home or choose one from our Reading Buddies bin.

Reading aloud to a friendly listener helps children develop confidence, interest in reading, and improved reading fluency. Teen volunteers serve as positive role models for young students and gain leadership skills. Being part of the program helps both volunteers and families be a stronger part of our library community!

Reading Buddies are currently available weekdays in the after-school hours and Saturdays from 10:30 – 11:30 or 2:00 – 3:00. Call 765-743-2261 or visit our Children’s Department to sign up for a weekly 15 minute Reading Buddies session. You can also sign up online.
