Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at the Library is an interesting and responsible way to support your community. Volunteers are needed in many capacities. Please complete the volunteer form and we will contact you.

Teens ages 12-18 interested in volunteering in our Children’s department can call 765-743-2261 and ask for Linda.

Teens ages 12-18 interested in volunteering in the Teen department should visit our Young Adults page to find volunteer opportunities and application forms.

Unpaid internships for students interested in librarianship may be available.

Community Outreach Services

The Thelma Brown Memorial Outreach Services provide library services & materials for under-served populations with a focus on seniors, children & the homebound.

The West Lafayette Public Library Outreach Services are named in honor of Thelma Brown, a longtime supporter of the Library & member of the Friends of the Library.

Community Outreach includes service to:

Senior Facilities
We deliver patron requests and a browsing collection to local senior facilities on a bi-weekly schedule.

Daycare Facilities
We deliver age appropriate books to local daycare facilities on a bi-weekly schedule for use at school.

Homebound Patrons
We deliver library materials to patrons residing in the jurisdiction of The West Lafayette Public Library who are unable to visit the Library due to disability, age or extended illness.

For questions regarding outreach service, please contact Scott Tracey at 765-743-2261 or outreachstaff@wlaf.lib.in.us.

The Library also partners with WALLA, Wabash Area Lifetime Learning Association.
