Hoosier Book Club
February 14, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us every other Tuesday for Hoosier Book Club. Learn more about Hoosier authors and enjoy discussing these books to get a deeper understanding of Indiana Literature.
Our current book is The Magnificent Ambersons, by Booth Tarkington. Tarkington famously attended Purdue in the early years of the university’s life before making it big with his publishing of The Gentleman from Indiana in 1899. Ambersons won Booth the Pulitzer Prize in 1918 when it was published, and it shot him to national literary stardom. Many likely know of this once ultra popular story from the Orson Welles film of the same title from 1942, though this film has a non-canonical ending. So come into our next meeting to see what the big deal is about The Magnificent Ambersons.
Book are provided by the club. This program is free, and for adults.
