Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the West Lafayette Public Library!

We want to share our beautiful, newly-renovated library with the public – and that includes new volunteer opportunities.

Being a volunteer at the Library means that you get to be a special part of our team. Volunteers not only get to gain experience and insight into the happenings at the Library – but they also get to make friends and show off their skills! Maybe you are just looking for a change in your daily routine or want to contribute to helping the public. Whatever the reason – we’re glad to have you at the Library!

What can I do to help?

**Special Opportunity: Creativity Lab Instructor**

We are looking for talented individuals or organizations that want to hold instructional classes in our new Creativity Lab! This space, which will feature a variety of equipment, is offered for patrons wanting to explore and create various projects – and we’d love it if you’d show off what you know! Are you a knitter? You can hold a how-to session on knitting! A painter? Let’s paint together! An underwater basket weaver? We’ll get our swim goggles! Sessions can be one-time or recurring. This volunteer will work out the details, including needed supplies, with the librarian.

Programs – WAITLIST

Assist library staff with programs for adults. Tasks could include prepping materials, setting up the room, assisting patrons during the program, helping with cleanup. See the adults page for information on current programs. Volunteers may also propose an idea for a one-time adult program, to be developed and run with the librarian once approved.

World Language Collections/Services – WAITLIST

Assistance is specifically requested for those who speak the following languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tagalog, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Japanese. Volunteer tasks could include reading through current world language materials for content and relevancy, assisting the librarian with selecting new materials, and developing library signs or brochures in that language.

Collections – WAITLIST

Work with the library collections! Tasks may include inventory and shelf-reading. If you have a busy schedule, this is the most flexible volunteering option!

Are you a musician and would like the opportunity to play for your community? This is an opportunity to play your instrument in the library lobby on Sunday afternoons.

Book Shop Help – WAITLIST

Collect and sort donated materials to go into our book shop. Staff the new book shop area and help the public browse, select, and pay for items. If you are interested in this opportunity, fill out the form and you will be contacted when volunteer opportunities open up.
