What Does Historic Preservation Mean for Communities?

May 11, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Please join us in the Elm room on May 11th to hear Dr. Ashima Krishna speak on what historic preservation is, and what it means for communities like West Lafayette.  As places in our community age, we are forced to decide what should be preserved as well as what has to be demolished to make way for the new.  By learning more about what historic preservation offers a community, we can have a better-informed perspective on what spaces need to be protected.

Dr. Krishna is a Clinical Associate Professor in the John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University.  She is an architect and historic preservation planner whose research spans the management of historic urban landscapes and adaptive reuse of religious historic structures and landscapes, with a particular focus on intersection with community development and equity issues and resulting policy challenges.

This is a free lecture that is open to the public.  Doors will open at 5:45 PM, with a brief Q & A to follow.  The event will also be livestreamed on the Library’s Facebook page.
